The Miss Dogwood & Miss Heart of the Ozarks Scholarship Pageant is now accepting entries from contestants.
The pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 at Arend Arts Center at Bentonville High School.
Both Miss Dogwood and Miss Heart of the Ozarks will be crowned that evening, along with a Miss Dogwood Outstanding Teen and Miss Heart of the Ozarks Outstanding Teen. The pageants are official preliminaries to the Miss Arkansas and Miss Arkansas' Outstanding Teen pageants. The winners will go on to compete in the state pageants this summer.
Two princesses also will be crowned. The newly crowned princesses will have the opportunity to travel with the miss and teen queens to the state pageants as a state princess.
There are four age divisions: little miss (5-8) princess (9-12), outstanding teen (13-17-year-old high school junior), miss (17-year-old-high school senior to 24 years of age).
The Scholarship Pageant is open to women who live in Benton, Washington, Madison, Carroll, Boone, Crawford, Marion and Baxter counties.
Girls attending the University of Arkansas must have completed a minimum of 12 hours by Feb. 7 to be eligible. The deadline to enter is Jan. 31, but late entries may be accepted. For more information, contact Robyn Ledbetter at rstarli@yahoo.com or call 409-0161. The required paperwork can be found at www.missheartoftheozarks.org.
The Miss Dogwood & Miss Heart of the Ozarks competition exists for the purpose of providing personal and professional opportunities for young American women and promoting their voice in culture, politics and the community. Contestants will compete in private interview, lifestyle and fitness wear (miss in swimsuit, teen in active wear), on-stage question, artistic expression and evening wear.
The organization is based on volunteers and work to provide scholarships and gifts for deserving young women who compete in the Miss America System.
