Hunt Documentary Wins Emmy

Journalism Professor Takes Honor

    FAYETTEVILLE -- "Silas Hunt: A Documentary," a film produced by the media services staff of the University of Arkansas' Global Campus earned an Emmy award from the Mid-America chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

    "Silas Hunt" is the first detailed film biography of the civil rights pioneer, the first African-American to attend the University of Arkansas School of Law. The documentary was directed by Chris Erwin, executive production manager for media services. It was one of six films nominated in the "Documentary-Cultural" category.

    Journalism professor Dale Carpenter won an Emmy award as editor for the documentary "Beacon of Hope: The Story of the University of Arkansas."

    The Mid-America Emmy award ceremonies were held Oct. 4 in St. Louis.
