A Razorback Holiday Parade
Jonathan Beasley and his 2-year-old son, Brock, enjoy a previous Lights of the Ozarks in Fayetteville. This year, the lights come on a week early, when the annual holiday parade leads Santa to the square Saturday.

Route: Floats will gather at the Kappa Sigma fraternity parking lot on Dickson Street, follow Dickson to Block Avenue, travel up Block to Mountain Street and then go around the eastern edge of the town square on East Avenue in Fayetteville
Special Events: More than 450,000 lights will illuminate the square until Dec. 31

ROGERS -- "Moon Over Buffalo" by Ken Ludwig, a nonstop, laugh-a-minute comedy from the author of last season's "Leading Ladies" at Rogers Little Theater, concludes this weekend. An acting couple is on tour in Buffalo in 1953 with a repertory consisting of "Cyrano de Bergerac" and Noel Coward's "Private Lives." Fate has given these thespians one more shot at starring roles in "The Scarlet Pimpernel" epic, and director Frank Capra himself is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance. FAYETTEVILLE -- "Scrooge? I have to redeem old Scrooge? The one man I knew who was worse than I was? Impossible!" So begins the "real" story behind Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" -- the tale of Jacob Marley's heroic behind-the-scenes efforts to save old Scrooge's soul and, in the process, his own. Aided by a so-called Bogle, a malicious hell-sprite with an agenda of his own, their hilarious journey takes them from the jaws of death to the mouth of hell -- and beyond when TheatreSquared presents "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol" Nov. 23-25, Nov. 29-Dec. 2 and Dec. 6-9 at the Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios. BENTONVILLE -- The classic short story, "A Child's Christmas in Wales," written by Dylan Thomas, comes to the stage as the drama department at NorthWest Arkansas Community College presents the musical version of the famous short story Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and Dec. 7-8 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 2 and 9 at 2 p.m. in White Auditorium on campus. SPRINGDALE -- What do you get when you put together Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus, plus a few million baby angels, shepherds, wise men -- and the notorious Herdman family? "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," of course, now in its 10th year at the Arts Center of the Ozarks. In the story by Barbara Robinson, the six very unruly Herdman children teach a whole church about the true meaning of the birth of Christ. FAYETTEVILLE -- "Dharma River: Journey of a Thousand Buddhas" will be screened at 7 p.m. in Old Main's Giffels Auditorium on the University of Arkansas campus. The free event will include a brief demonstration of Tibetan polyphonic chanting. SPRINGDALE -- Auditions for "Witness for the Prosecution" by Agatha Christie are set for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10-11 at the Arts Center of the Ozarks. Performance dates are Feb. 1-3 and 8-9 with a school performance on Feb. 8 at 9:30 a.m. Principal and secondary parts are available for eight men and five women. There are a number of non-speaking parts that appear in all courtroom scenes. Scripts are now available for $10 deposit for 24-hour perusal; deposit returned if script returned after 24 hours. FAYETTEVILLE -- The Fayetteville High School Student Council will preview its annual homeless vigil at the Fayetteville Public Library at 4 p.m. Dec. 4 in the Walker Community Room. Student Council members will be joined by Marian Riner, program coordinator for Families in Transition, as they share their experiences and preview their work on the annual Homeless Vigil. In 2006, students raised $13,000 for the area homeless population. The 2007 vigil will begin at 5 p.m. Dec. 6 and continue until the students meet their goal. Information: 571-2222, ext. 4450.
